Fence Post ~ History To Be Lost

This fence post separates San Felipe Road in San Jose, Calif., from a pasture. It is presently for sale and I cannot help but think that it will someday be part of Silicon Valley's sprawl into Mt. Hamilton's foothills.

Lost History ~ San Felipe's Eucalyptus Trees

More and more development is taking place in the foothills of Mt. Hamilton in Silicon Valley. These eucalyptus trees will fall, one by one, and probably never be replanted. Development is encroaching upon pastoral countryside like a plague of sprawl. But, that's life in Silicon Valley: polluted air, polluted water, traffic jams, asphalt and concrete jungle. I'll be happy when I return to the rural area where I'm from.

Paving Over Paradise (Silicon Valley)

San Felipe Road is already under development just north of this pasture and oldtime fence with barbed wire. I wonder how long it will take to pave over this piece of paradise.

Almaden Meadows Mustard Blossoms

California's five-year drought all but wiped out mustard blossoms on this hillside meadow at Almaden Meadows Park in San Jose in the heart of Silicon Valley. I'm fortunate enough to have photographed the last huge bloom. Hopefully, the hillside will recover in future years.
